Using a visual diagram of a systemic relationship in order to locate possible interventions
Our group was assigned the decline of pollinators as a topic about which to make a systems map and locate possible interventions. During our initial research, we looked at the different scales that have an effect on pollinators, all the way from the pollinators' habitat to large corporations that are contributing to this mass decline. We further organized this information according to which factors had the greatest impact on the pollinator population, and how that impact was related to the problem.
This organization system allowed us to then reexamine our problem from a new angle, and pick places where interventions could potentially be made to stop this population from decreasing. Many of these interventions were already happening at some scale, and we felt that expanding those programs would benefit the system.
